Terry
Barnett
Terry completed post-graduate wine studies at Roseworthy
College. Further wine industry experience was followed by his
appointment to Brown Brothers as Research Winemaker. A career
progression over the next eight years culminated in his appointment
as Chief Winemaker in 1998.
The role was expanded in 2001 to include all the Operating
Divisions of the company, which included internal and external
grape supply, winemaking, and packaging.
During his tenure at Brown Brothers Terry was responsible for a
number of significant achievements.
These included:
> Establishing the flagship Patricia Range of wines.
> Establishing a linkage with several leading international
family wine businesses, to share experiences and to support the
production of high quality wine making and the professional growth
of winemakers.
> Invited to join the Winemakers Federation of Australia
Technical Committee in 2001, following a number of years’ active
involvement with the Australian Society of Viticulturists and
Oenologists (ASVO) and with the profession more broadly.
> Responsibility for wines that have won over 200 gold medals at
national wine shows and more than 50 trophies, including twice
winner of International Sparkling Wine of the Year in London. Media
awards have included Winestate Wine of the Year.
> Led innovation and process improvement on a large scale. Wines
such as Moscato, Barbera, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Pinot Grigio,
Tempranillo, and Cienna are examples of wines that were developed
by Terry.
Terry has brought his wine industry knowledge and experience
to Terra Felix where he now heads up the procurement of grapes and
all aspects of wine making.
